According to the last census, Keene's population is about 6,050. We have about 2,600 residences which vary from small homes to large estates. The city encompasses an area of about three square miles. In that area reside a university, public and private schools, some small businesses and a lot of nice folks.

Our businesses include a bank, some nice places to eat, a few real estate based businesses, gas stations, garages, pharmacy, laundromat, dry cleaners, florist, insurance offices, and a variety store. Recent improvements include a new city park and athletic area, an industrial park, and the addition of both DSL and Wi-Fi Internet service. We now also have two new strip centers under construction and looking for tenants!

Keene started out as a Seventh-day Adventist settlement back in the 1800s, and over the years has progressed to include many religions, races, colors, and creeds. Our citizenry is now made up of folks from most of the states of the union as well as many foreign countries.

Keene is located at the intersection of State Highway 67 and Farm Road 2280, in an area of rolling hills, woods, lakes, and creeks. Our average temperatures typically range from lows in the 30s to highs in the mid 90s with more than 240 days of sunshine per year.

It is our goal as a city to continue to progressively increase the quality of life and standard of living for all our residents.
